Statement on Allegations of Sexual Assault against Ali K Bangi

ASL19Website-ASL19 Banner-4-1420

On Nov 21, 2017, we learned that Ali K Bangi appeared in court on a charge of sexual assault. We are deeply disturbed by this and take all reports of sexual assault very seriously.

Immediately upon learning about the court appearance, we met with Mr. Bangi about the accusations which gave rise to the charge. At the conclusion of that meeting, Mr. Bangi resigned from ASL19. We have taken the necessary measures to revoke his access to ASL19 internal and external communication channels. As the allegations against Mr. Bangi detail a non-work related event and are under a publication ban, the facts of the case remain unknown to us and we are unable to conduct an investigation into the incident.

ASL19 is committed to a safe, respectful, non-discriminatory working environment for all. We have organizational policies in place to support this and are committed to upholding the highest standards possible for healthy and respectful work and community spaces. An excerpt from our organizational policy is available here. We continually seek ways to improve our policies and welcome feedback from the community.

Yours respectfully,

Anna May and Fereidoon Bashar
