From ideation to design, localization to product development, we work with our partners to advance human rights through technology. We design and develop our solutions with and for diverse communities through a human-centered and privacy-first design approach.

Collaborative, creative problem-solving is an essential part of our work. With over 10 years of experience in user testing, outreach, localization, digital product design and development, we work closely with our partners to bring their innovative ideas to life to create sustainable, positive social impact in Iran.

One of these partnerships started in 2015, when United4Iran approached us with an idea to create an app that would let people in Iran report the locations of Morality Police enforcing Iran’s mandatory hijab law on the street. In 2016, we launched Gershad and within days of its launch, Gershad attracted immense interest from people inside the country – predominantly women – and over 200 international media coverage. It won the 2016 Bobs Award by Deutsche Welle. Today, ASL19 continues to work alongside United4iran to ensure Gershad remains an effective, safe and reliable tool to help women in Iran evade morality police and carry on critical dialogue about women’s rights in Iran. Over the years, ASL19 has helped build and improve a wide variety of civic tech applications, public engagement and government accountability tools, e-learning platforms, and many more. We believe technologies can be a powerful drive for social change when we take the time to listen, collaborate, and amplify the voices of communities we serve.
