Gershad is an award-winning mobile app built by United for Iran and ASL19 to help people in Iran report on the locations of morality police – a unit that enforces the Islamic Republic’s dress code such as the compulsory hijab. Gershad’s crowdsourced police-sighting maps help its users choose safer routes to avoid harassment, violent encounters, and detention carried out by the morality police on a daily basis.
